Star Oil Company Ltd · How to use the ESS portal
Logging in
- Open the ESS portal and enter your work email and password, then click Sign in.
- For security, you'll be asked for a verification code. How you get it depends on how your account is set up:
- Authenticator app (Google Authenticator / Microsoft Authenticator): open the app and enter the 6-digit code it shows.
- SMS or Email: a 6-digit code is sent to your phone or email — enter it on the verification screen. You can tap Resend if it doesn't arrive.
- After the code is accepted you'll land on your Dashboard.
First time using an authenticator app? When prompted to enrol, scan the QR code shown on screen with the app, then enter the 6-digit code it generates to confirm.
Forgot your password?
- On the sign-in page, click Forgot password?
- Enter your work email and submit. A reset code is sent by SMS to the phone number on your record.
- Enter the code, then choose a new password (at least 6 characters) and confirm it.
- Sign in with your new password.
No code arriving? Your phone number may be missing or out of date. Contact HR/IT to update it — for security, password resets can only be sent to the phone on file.
Dashboard
Your home screen — a quick overview of your information after you sign in. Use the menu on the left to move between sections.
My Profile
View your personal and employment details. You can update a few of your own details here:
- Password (you'll need to enter your current password to change it)
- Ghana Card (NIA) number
- SSNIT number
- Marital status
- Number of children
- Education level
To edit: open My Profile → Edit profile, change what you need, and click Save changes.
Details like your name, salary, bank account and designation are managed by HR and can't be changed here. If any of those are wrong, contact HR.
Payslips
- Click Payslips in the menu to see your pay history.
- Click a period to view the full breakdown — earnings, deductions and net pay.
- You can print or save a payslip from the view screen.
Leaves
- Click Leaves to see your leave history and balances.
- Click Apply to request leave — choose the type and dates and submit.
- You can view a request's status, or cancel a request that hasn't been actioned yet.
Loans
- Click Loans to see your loans and balances.
- Click a loan to view its details, or open the statement to see repayments.
- A statement can be downloaded as a CSV file.
Signing out
Always click Sign out when you're done, especially on a shared device.
